FAQ

It cannot be done. This is because this account is specially designed as a US Dollars account. Therefore, cash can be credited only in recognized foreign currency units such as USD, GBP, AUD, CAD.

This account is in Sri Lanka and cannot be accessed as the above online payment systems have not yet facilitated Sri Lanka.

There is no maximum or minimum for cash credit. You can make your contribution in as many valid currencies as you can.

This an account created using US Dollars as the primary currency. Therefore, Sri Lankan currency cannot be credited.

No. It is not possible to transfer money through western union.

  • Step in to any Bank or Exchange House, instruct them to send fund to Sri Lanka.

(a) You may have incorrectly input beneficiary details such as A/C No, Destination Bank, Destination Currency

(b) You may have put destination currency as LKR

The “Save a Baby” account No. 014402160015363 is maintained in USD (United States Dollar) under a special approval of CBSL. Hence, remittances to this accounts should be sent in foreign currency.

However, it is noted that some send their remittance in LKR. When you have selected the ‘destination currency” as LKR or your Banking system has selected the currency as LKR automatically, due to Sri Lanka being the country of the receiving Bank,the Sri Lanka interbank clearing systems such as CEFT or SLIPS rejects crediting of an LKR remittances to a foreign currency Account. 

Therefore, your LKR remittance will automatically be rejected and returned by the systems.

This returned remittance will be credited back to your account (less any sending/intermediary bank charges). If you still haven’t received such returned money back to your account, please inquire from your Sending Bank / Financial Institution in your country. 

Please note that, remittances sent via Western Union,  Ria, MoneyGram etc . which are designated in LKR will not be credited to USD accounts.

Therefore, you are kindly requested to check that the destination currency of your remittance is always a foreign currency (USD or the currency of your country) and never LKR,   when sending remittances to this Save A Baby account.

 

Please inform your Remitting Bank or Exchange House regarding the non-receipt of the payment by the beneficiary

IF your payment is not refunded to your account within maximum 1-7 days, please check with the remitting bank/exchange house at your end for the refund.
